Dominique Blanc on the 37th FEST
The Fest Directorate is honored to inform you that the 37th FEST will host the renowned French actress Dominique Blanc, who shall present herself to the festival's audience with her latest film The Other Woman (L'autre). For her role in the film, Dominique Blanc was awarded the Best Actress Award on the Venice Film Festival in 2008. The film will be shown on FEST twice: on February 21st at 20h in the cinema Balkan, when the actress Anne Benoix will introduce herself to the audience and on February 26th, at 16.30h, when Dominique Blanc will do the same in Sava Centar.
In cooperation with the French Cultural Center, the Fest Directorate has organized another important event in the framework of the 37th FEST: the theatre play "Pain", based on the text by Marguerite Duras, a dairy of waiting for her husband Robert Antelm from the German concentration camp. In April 1945, just before the liberation, she still doesn't know whether he is alive or not. Wandering around the city in the chaotic last days of the war, running from office to office, cursing her telephone, starving, sleepless, she is waiting, lurking and seeking a glimpse of hope. While she is surrounded with joy over the liberation, her days are filled by threats, fear, despair and shame. Her friends from the resistance are preparing to great a war returnee. Among them is Robert, with a body in which life has no meaning.
In cooperation with Thierry The Niang, Patrice Cherauld has directed a play for her favorite actress, the fascinating Dominique Blanc, epitomizing the silence, sighs, simplicity and intensity of the text of Marguerite Duras.
The play will be performed in Yugoslav Theatre of Drama on February 27th, at 20h.
