RALPH FIENNES LANDS ON FEST
Yesterday about 17h Mr. Ralph Fiennes landed on the Nikola Tesla Belgrade airport on a flight from London. He will be opening the 37th edition of FEST tonight. We are reminding you that after the official opening Steven Duldry’s “The Reader” will be shown, in which Fiennes is starring alongside Kate Winslet. The Reader was shown on the recently finished Berlin Festival.
Meet Ralph Fiennes or What You Maybe did not know
He is coming from an artistic family: his father Mark was a photographer and Jennifer Jeannie Les, his mother, was a writer. Ralph’s sister Martha is a director – he starred in her film “Onegin”. His other sister Sophie is a producer, while his younger brother Joseph is also a successful actor (Elisabeth, Stolen Beauty, Killing me Softly). His nephew Hero Fiennes Tiffin has also started to be involved in acting and with his uncle Ralph he will be starring in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood”, in the role of young age Lord Waldemart, whose interpreted by Ralph. Ralph is pronounced properly “Rafe”, as he often stresses. “The right way to say it is Rafe”. The name has Celtic origin.
He has cooperated with some of the biggest and most popular contemporary directors: Peter Greenaway (The Baby from Macon, 1993), Steven Spielberg (Schindler’s List, 1993), Anthony Mingel (the English Patient, 1996), Robert Redford (Quizz, 1994), Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days, 1995), David Cronenber (Spider, 2002), Bret Retnaer (Red Dragon, 2002), Wayne Wang (the Maid from Manhattan, 2002), Istvan Szabo (Sunshine, 2002), Neil Jordan (End of the Affair 1999 and Good Thief, 2002), Fernando Meireles (the Constant Gardener, 2005), Mike Nuel (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2005), David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 2007), James Ivory (White Countess, 2005) and many others.
Ralph Fiennes is an Ambassador of UNICEF.
He has refused the main role in the adaptation of the TV series „The Saint“ (1997).
He has shot the role of Lord Waldemart in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) in two days.
He is a wrestling afficionado.
His love life has drawn the attentio of the media, just like his roles. He was married to actress Alex Kingston (1993. – 1997) and in relationship with Franceska Anis (1995 – 2006), Ellen Barkin and Romanian singer Cornelia Krisan.
He will be filming his directing debut „Coriolanus“ – the adaptation of Shakespeare’s same named novel – in locations in Belgrade and throughout Serbia. For that reason he has already visited Belgrade and Serbia.
