I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY DREAMS

Actor Melih Selcuk in his „civilian“ life is a business student, who obtained the role in the film „Milk“ after having applied for the casting, on which the director Semih Kaplanoglou decided to pick him out of 200 candidates. Who knows why, Melih says, adding that they should ask the director about that.

„The film is a story about a young man who wants to fulfil his dreams after high school, but fails hampered by the boundaries imposed by his situation and society in general. It is always like that – society imposes certain standards of behaviour we must adhere to, whether we like it or not. The character I am playing is stretched between his dreams and the imposed rules of behaviour. Interestingly, my role in the film coincides with the circumstances in my life; I always wanted to be a director or an actor and in real life I’m studying business. I will finish those studies, but I will not give up my dreams. I have to admit that it was not easy working on this film and excellent cooperation with the director, whom I am at the same wave length with, helped me a lot,“ says Melih Selcuk, actor in the film „ Milk“ by Semih Kaplanoglou, which will be shown in the competition program Europe out of Europe of the 37th FEST on Sunday, March 1st at 20.30h in DKC.
