„I have shot Landscape no. 2 in Slovenia two years ago. I was in for the film about four or five days. It was a very interesting experience to work with Slovenian actors, especially with young Marko Mandic. I got the role in the film at the recommendation of our photography director Dusan Joksimovic, who also worked on the film. An interesting experience that lasted less than a week.

„What could I say, without crying… I had just thought that directors gave up giving any roles to me… Of course I rejoiced the first professional invitation from one of the former Yugoslav republics. I was slightly confused by the theme, I considered all these stories to have been ’exhausted’ or at least that nobody found them interesting anymore. Nevertheless, the cruel and ugly past managed once again to play with the future and beauty. A very interestingly led story that Vinko managed to fine tune from a banal accident into a great thriller with an ending which did not bring a cyclic repetition of history.

My role is somewhat stereotypical – the ’cleaner’. During the festival in Venice, the Croatian press compared by performance of that role with that of Jean Reneau’s in similar roles. I want to thank them for this compliment, it’s nice to hear someone’s opinion about a job done, although, although I have never tried to find any instruction or key for a certain role in the history of film. Unfortunately, I am far from quantity and thus the quality of my roles was questioned. The role of the instructor was not too complex or complicated; there are no multiple layers under which an ’Oscar’ role could hide. Maybe that’s the reason that this character is even more difficult. It’s hard to defend a character that is doing the things I do for the reasons that were stated in the film. I want to extend my gratitude for the invitation once again and thank Vinko, Eva and Dusan for their cooperation and I would like to greet everyone following the 37th FEST and wish the all the best and a lot of great films.

 

 The Slovenian film „Landscape no. 2“ is the „absolute winner” of the Festival in Portoroz 2008 will be shown tonight in the Balkan cinema and the festivals in Warsaw and Pula. Director Vinko Mordenhofer has arrived on the 37th FEST in the company of the actors Maja Martina Merljak and Marko Mandic, as well as the Producer of the film Eve Rohrman.
