We have three Serbian films on this year’s FEST. The first one to be shown is “By the border”, directed by Zarko Dragojevic, and it is scheduled for 16:00 on the 25th February in the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. It is a part of the programme “Facts and Puzzles” This film tells us the story of the people living in the south of Serbia, near to the border of Kosovo, who do not give up hope although often being forced to leave their homes and retrieve from the border due to armored attacks.

 

Another domestic documentary from the programme “Facts and Puzzles” is a film by Srdjan Knezevic, named “Washing films” which is scheduled for 16:00 on the 26th February in the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. This provocative film is focused on events that occurred in Serbian cinematography in the last decade. It also seeks the authorities’ explanations for some decisions and actions. One of this decisions is the Film institute being closed and turned into Serbian Film Centre.

 

The third movie is the only Serbian film that is in the competition programme of the festival “Europe out of Europe”. The title is “Flashback” and it is directed by Aleksandar Jankovic, who presented this film as his college graduation piece. The film premiere is scheduled for 27th February at 20:30 and it will be shown again the day after at 11:30.
