The film “La La Land”, which premiered in Serbia as a prelude to the 45th FEST, quite expectedly took home a number of awards: Emma Stone received Best Actress Award, Damian Chazelle was awarded Best Director and the film won Best Cinematography, Production Design and Original Score.
The film “Moonlight” won Best Picture Award (which you can see at FEST today at 1:30 PM), Barry Jenkins’s film about coming-of-age of a black young man, which is included in the FEST 45 Programme Selection. “Moonlight” also won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, while Mahershala Ali received Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award. Casey Affleck was awarded Best Actor in a Leading Role in the film “Manchester by the Sea”. This extraordinary drama deservedly won Best Original Screenplay Award as well. “Manchester by the Sea”, directed by Kenneth Lonnergan, is also within the FEST 45 Programme.
An Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film went to “The Salesman” by Asghar Farhadi, which is included out of competition in the Main Competition Programme of the 45th FEST. This is the second time this incredibly successful Iranian director won the Academy Award. He won the first one for “A Separation” shot in 2011.
Welcome to the 45th FEST!
