The film which opens FEST a record holder with 10 nominations for the Academy Award!

After many months of speculation, the official Oscar nominations have been finally announced. The award ceremony will be held on February 24th, the second day of FEST, where you can watch some of the films that have been in competition for prestigious golden statuettes.

The film that opens FEST, The Favourite, is an absolute record holder with 10 nominations in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Best Original Screenplay (Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara), Best Actress (Olivia Colman), Best Supporting Actress (Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone), Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. The Favourite is screened within the FEST 47 GALA programme, which also includes the film with the most Oscar nominations after The Favourite - Vice, with eight nominations: Best Picture, Best Director (Adam McKay), Best Original Screenplay (Adam McKay), Best Actor (Christian Bale), Best Supporting Actress (Amy Adams), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell), Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Film Editing.        

FEST 47 GALA will also present two films that feature outstanding actresses whose efforts have been recognized by the Academy - Glenn Close is nominated for Best Actress in The Wife, and Regina King for Best Supporting Actress in the film If Beale Street Could Talk. For the same film, Barry Jenkins received the nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and Nicholas Britell for Best Original Score.

The FEST 47 programme includes the film Green Book, nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay (Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie), Best Actor (Viggo Mortensen), Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Editing. Another film in the same selection, Pawel Pawlikowski's Cold war, earned nominations for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography. 

The Lebanese film Capernaum directed by Nadine Labaki is also in the race for Best Foreign Language Film, and at FEST it competes for one of the awards in the Main Competition Programme. 

The Japanese film Mirai earned an Academy nomination for Best Animated Feature Film which will be presented within the Youth FEST programme.

Paul Schrader was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for the film First Reformed, whose quality was also recognized by the jury of the 46th FEST, which gave him an award for Best Director in the Main Competition Programme last year. 

The 47th FEST will be held from February 22nd to March 3rd.  The full programme will be announced at the first press conference on Monday, January 28th at 12 PM in the Congress Hall of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade.
